Tampa Bay Rays vs Boston Red Sox
Free Pick
1 Unit on Boston Red Sox -120
Bottom Line: Beckett has been brilliant in his last two, only allowing 1 earned run in 14 2-3 innings of work while striking out 14 and walking 4. Expect him to keep dealing against a team he has had a lot of success against. He is 11-4 lifetime with an ERA of 3.28 versus Tampa Bay, and the Red Sox have won each of Beckett's last 4 starts versus the Rays. Bet Boston.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Seattle Mariners
FREE PLAY
1 Unit on Seattle Mariners -145
The Mariners have the clear advantage on the mound with Hernandez. The dominant right-hander is 4-3 with an ERA of 2.80, including 2-1 with a 0.87 ERA at home. The Angels' Williams doesn't inspire the same confidence, especially on the road where he's 0-2 with an ERA of 5.06.
The Mariners have won Hernandez's last two starts against the Angels. He has limited the Halos to 3 earned runs or less in 10 of his last 12 starts against them. This dominance has prompted odds makers to post a low total, which bodes well for us considering the Mariners are 6-1 in Hernandez's last 7 starts with the total set at 6.5 or lower. The M's are also 5-2 in his last 7 home starts vs. a team with a losing record.
In addition, the Angels are 1-5 in their last 6 games as a road underdog and 4-11 in their last 15 in the 3rd game of a series. The Mariners are 5-0 in their last 5 in the 3rd game of a series. Take Seattle.

Chicago Cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
Jack's Free Pick Saturday: Pittsburgh Pirates -118
The Chicago Cubs are in a slump that they just cannot seem to get out of. The Cubs should not be getting this much respect from oddsmakers tonight. They have now lost 10 straight games overall to take ahold of the worst record (15-30) in baseball.
Chicago's biggest problem all season has been their offense, where they are hitting just .246 and scoring 3.4 runs/game. The Cubs have scored a combined 6 runs in their last five games overall. They scored 1 run or fewer in four of those five contests.
Former Pirates' starter Paul Maholm gets the ball for Chicago tonight. Maholm is 1-1 with a 6.06 ERA in three road starts this season. I believe the edge goes to the Pittsburgh hitters as they have a perfect scouting report on the left-hander.
The Cubs are 5-21 in their last 26 vs. a team with a losing record. The Pirates are 6-1 in their last 7 home games vs. a left-handed starter. Pittsburgh starter Kevin Correia is 20-9 against the money line vs. terrible power teams - averaging 0.75 or less HR's/game since 1997.
Bet the Pirates Saturday.

3Daily Winners Sports Betting Line Moves
By Doug Upstone
As we head into the holiday weekend, the baseball board has seen quite a bit of disagreement between oddsmakers and baseball bettors on totals. Matchups that have seen rising totals are the Phillies and Cardinals (7 to 7.5), Brewers and Diamondbacks (8.5 to 9) and Indians and White Sox (8.5 to 9). Two conflicts have also gone down are the Astros and Dodgers (6.5 to 6) and the Angles and Mariners (7.5 to 7). Always review the tasty trend nuggets at the bottom of the page.
MLB – (901) CHIC. CUBS at (902) PITTSBURGH 7:05 EDT CSN+, RT (side and total)
The woeful Chicago Cubs haven’t lost 10 in a row since 1997. And tonight’s Cubs starting pitcher Ryan Dempster (0-2) has yet to win a game in spite of sporting an ERA of 2.28, which is noteworthy, since the last pitcher to be winless after seven starts with such a low ERA was the Yankees Whitey Ford (2.06) 46 years ago. Even with all this bad news surrounding the Cubs, those betting on baseball see a “due factor” and have lowered Dempster and his club from +115 to +101. It’s not like the Pirates A. J. Burnett (2-2, 4.78 ERA) is unbeatable and he’s only 14-18 (Teams Record) when a -110 or higher favorite playing on way better teams than Pittsburgh. The total did climb from 6.5 to 7, but the Bucs offense is even worse than Chicago’s (2.9 vs. 3.5 RPG) and they are 15-4-2 UNDER at PNC Park.
3DW Position – Cubs win and Over
MLB – (907) COLORADO at (908) CINCINNATI 7:10 EDT RT, FSOH
The combination of great pitching and the complete batting order hitting, has Cincinnati on a six-game winning streak. The exact opposite is true of Colorado, who has lost six of seven and has permitted the most runs in the National League at 5.5 per contest. Add these two elements together and have the Reds ace Johnny Cueto (5-1, 1.97) pitching at Great American Ballpark and it’s a rout for Cincy, right? Well, for some reason baseball bettors have taken the Reds from -175 to -150. Maybe it’s because the Rockies are 7-13 on the road and average 3.6 RPG. Or possibly it’s because the Rocks are 20-39 as a road underdog of +100 to +150. Yea right.
3DW Position – Cincinnati wins
MLB – (917) KANSAS CITY at (918) BALTIMORE 7:05 EDT FSKC, MASN2
Despite a home series setback to Boston, Baltimore is still in first place and should be fresher after a day off. The Orioles will take on Kansas City and Bruce Chen (3-4, 4.17), who has turned around his season. Chen started 0-4 (4.98 ERA), but is 3-0 with a 2.75 ERA in his last three trips up the mound. This has negatively impacted Baltimore, who’s been dropped from -140 to -126, despite a 7-3 record against left-handers this year. The O’s are punishing the AL Central with an 8-1 record in 2012 and the Royals are non-profitable 6-18 when the money line is +125 to -125 this season.
3DW Position – Kansas City wins
MLB – (921) TORONTO at (922) TEXAS 8:05 EDT RS1, KTXA
The Rangers offense has been quelled in recent games, as they tallied just seven runs on 16 base hits in losing a series in Seattle. They will try and reverse this trend at home, but will find a tough hombre toeing the rubber on the other team. Toronto’s Brandon Morrow (5-2, 2.63) has two shutouts in his last four starts and has a slick 0.63 ERA on the road, which is why the Blue Jays have won all four of his visiting starts. With Morrow on his game and Texas offense not on theirs, the Rangers have fallen off the saddle from -140 to -126. Morrow and the Jays are 8-2 (+8.1 Units) as a road underdog of +100 or higher, however, Texas is 32-13 after a defeat of two or fewer runs.
3DW Position – Toronto wins
ARENA – (153) JACKSONVILLE at (154) ORLANDO 8:00 EDT NFLN
The NFL Network is stuck with a dude matchup in Arena Football, but football bettors smell opportunity. Jacksonville is 4-5 SU and ATS, while Orlando is 1-8 (3-6 ATS) on the season. These division partners rank 13th and 16th in scoring points, yet the total has shot up like health care costs from 92 to 96.5. While evidence is hard to come by looking at the two individual teams, we did find this: Play OVER on horrible offensive teams like Orlando, averaging 41 or less PPG, against an average defensive team (46-52 PPG), after eight or more games into the season. This AFL football system is 29-8, 78.4 percent.
3DW Position – Play Over
3Daily Winners Nuggets
NBA Total Nugget
San Antonio is 20-3 ATS when the total is 200 or higher this season. (Sunday)
MLB Money Line Nugget
Baltimore is 22-6 playing against a team with a win percentage of 38% to 46% the last two seasons. (Should apply all weekend)
ARENA ATS Nugget
Utah is 2-14 ATS after scoring 68 points or more in their last game since 1996. (Saturday)

Guide to betting on Football
|
Football is now the most popular sport to bet on and over the course of the calendar
year, it attracts more money than horse racing from the gambling fraternity. The
huge growth in televised football has also helped to promote the sport and having a
bet on any game can only enhance your excitement.
There are many traditional bets alongside some increasingly innovative ones and if
you`re new to football gambling, the obvious place to begin is with a wager on an
individual match. Essentially, you only have three possible outcomes as far as the
result is concerned and while the odds may not be too high, this type of bet is far
easier to predict than others.
Another traditional bet that has proved to be popular over the years requires you to
speculate on the first goal scorer in any game. This has in fact been extended to
cover the last goal scorer too and a little research here could tip the odds in your
favour.
Naturally the strikers in a game will stand the best chance of opening the scoring
but defenders coming up for corners and other set pieces are worth looking out for.
Some players such as Robert Huth at Stoke City and John Terry at Chelsea are more
adept at scoring than others and following them over the course of a season could
help to make a profit.
This type of traditional bet has been joined by a number of new innovations and
these days it`s possible to gamble on virtually any aspect of a game. From the
number of free kicks and corners to the timing of the first set piece, football
betting is likely to have a more diverse set of markets than any other sport.
Perhaps the most exciting innovation of all however concerns betting in play which
allows you to place a whole host of bets after a game has kicked off. You can gamble
on the result, final score, name of the next goal scorer and a wide range of other
markets at the same time.
The appeal of betting in play is twofold. Not only do you have to possess good
analytical skills as a soccer pundit, you also have to be quick off the mark in
securing the best possible price for a bet, because the odds change very quickly
indeed.
Essentially, your betting strategy can be as simple or as complicated as you want it
to be. Some professional gamblers will, for example, choose to bet only on the
strongest sides in any league and they will repeat this over the course of a season.
The method involves betting on a team to win a game, let`s use Real Madrid as an
example and if they are victorious then you collect. However, if they lose then you
simply double your stake the following week and allow for any fluctuation in odds.
In theory, they will win more games than they lose and while there is no sure-fire
way to succeed in online gambling, this and other forms of mathematical probability
are worth considering.
Whatever you decide to bet on, gambling on football can heighten the excitement of
your game so do some research, look for weekend football tips and sit back to
watch the action.

Premiership Betting
|
In the space of just a few years, the rise of the internet has helped football to
overtake horse racing and become the world`s favourite sport from a betting
perspective. The ease with which you can now place a bet has meant that it`s never
been simpler to stake some money before settling down to enjoy a game.
Extensive TV coverage has also helped those statistics and perhaps the most widely
watched league in the world is the English Premiership. There are all the usual
markets available here from first and last goal scorer to the result of the match
itself but there are one or two unique bets that make gambling on the Premier League
even more exciting.
Perhaps the most popular of these bets involves the winner of the coveted `Golden
Boot` trophy. This is awarded to the player who finishes the season as the league`s
leading scorer and the fact that in 2010-11, it was shared between two players
underlines just how exciting this gamble can be.
Often this market isn`t decided until the last game of the campaign and there are so
many factors including injury, suspension and sheer loss of form that can all help
to decide who wins the bet.
One of the Premier League bets to get most media exposure is affectionately known as
the `Sack Race` and it asks you to predict the name of the manager who will be the
first to leave his position when a season gets underway. This is another gamble
where the obvious candidates don`t always win and history will show that the boss in
charge of a relegation threatened side may keep his job for a while. In contrast,
the manager of a side who has spent heavily in the summer will be expected to
deliver results and if he doesn`t, he could be in line for the sack. It`s all about
the Chairman with the most patience and that`s why this gamble attracts so much
attention.
With the continued growth of live football, the concept of betting in play is just
perfect for the English Premiership. Now you can place your money after a game has
kicked off and this is exciting because it really tests your skills as a soccer
pundit.
All the usual bets are here including the result, score line and the next goal
scorer. New and experienced gamblers alike are getting involved with betting in play
and this is certainly a market worth considering as part of your overall Premiership
betting strategy.
Elsewhere, the more traditional style of betting is available and it is perfectly
possible to bet on the result, the correct score, the first goal scorer and
virtually every other aspect of a Premier League game you could possibly think of.
There are very good reasons why football is now the most popular sport with the
betting fraternity and there has never been a better time to get involved. With so
much live football around it really is
very simple to stake some money and then settle back to enjoy the game.

Beginners Guide to Poker
|
Poker has become so popular a game that its list of professional players includes
ex-cricketer Shane Warne and Oscar-nominated actress Jennifer Tilly. Of course,
playing poker is not the preserve of the rich and famous. Anybody can learn to play
the game with minimal effort and at relatively little cost.
How to Play
Most beginners to the game ought to start by playing Texas No Limit Hold`em online.
A good way to learn the ropes is to play several games on a free-to-play table, but
the nature of the game changes completely once money is laid on the line.
The basics of playing poker can be learned by playing on cash-free tables. Players
ought to notice that two hole cards (hidden from others) are dealt to them at the
start of each hand in anticipation of a round of betting. The next phase of the game
is called the flop, followed by the turn and the river. Three community cards, which
are visible to all players, are dealt on the flop. Two more community cards are
dealt after the flop - one on the turn and the other on the river. Each player still
in the game after the river uses three of the five available community cards to make
up his best hand.
Hands
In poker, the term `hand` is used to describe the best five cards (comprising two
hole and three community cards) held by each player. It can also refer to a game of
poker (e.g., "when the hand is complete"). The best hands are as follows:
Royal Flush - Ace to ten (A-K-Q-J-10) of the same suit.
Straight Flush - Any five cards of the same suit in order, e.g., Q-J-10-9-8 of hearts.
Four of a Kind - Four cards of the same rank (A-A-A-A being the highest scoring).
Full House - Three of a kind plus a pair (e.g., A-A-A-K-K).
Flush - Five cards of the same suit (e.g., A-9-6-4-2 of diamonds).
Straight - Five cards of different suits in rank order (e.g., 7D-8C-9H-10H-JS).
Three of a Kind - A-A-A, K-K-K and so on.
Two Pair - A-A-K-K, J-J-Q-Q, 2-2-A-A and so on.
One Pair - A-A, K-K, Q-Q, J-J, 10-10, etc., through to 2-2.
High Card - A high-value card (e.g., A-2-4-6-8 would beat K-Q-J-9-8 because the ace
is higher than the king).
Betting
Simply having a strong hand is not enough to win a game of poker online. Players
must know how to bet, when to fold and what to do when confronted by aggressive
players. Betting options include bet, call, raise, re-raise, check or fold. In Texas
No Limit Hold`em, as its name suggests, players can go all-in, meaning that they bet
their entire worth (in dollars or chips) on a single hand.
It is usually sensible to give very little away to opponents. This means that
beginners should resist the temptation to go all-in before the flop with A-A unless
there is good cause to do so (e.g., in a turbo tournament with unlimited re-buys). A
substantial raise usually works better in this scenario, while beginners should
avoid fishing for community cards with two poor hole cards (e.g., betting to the
river with A-2 in search of the straight). New player bonuses are available on
popular sites such as Party
Casino.

Top Tips - Horse Racing
|
Tips are not just those gleaned from inside information or the opinion of
professional tipsters, they are also tactics anyone can put into play once they have
a little knowledge and are prepared to do the necessary homework.
Trainers` Tactics
Look out for horses that have failed in the better races and are now running at a
minor course or in a less high-quality race. The trainer may be going for an easy
win to get their confidence back.
A switch from an average jockey to a top one can pay dividends. The new rider will
be stronger and much more skilled at getting a horse to give his all. He will also
be adept at strategy, such as holding a horse back that gets lazy if he hits the
front too early.
Course and Distance
Always check C and D figures. A horse`s liking for a particular racecourse can be a
huge advantage. It may also prefer to run on a right-hand track rather than a
left-hand one - galloping clockwise rather than counter clockwise.
As for distance, it is worth noting such comments as `ran on from last` or `best
work at finish` in the form figures if the horse just missed being placed in a race
run at a shorter distance than he is tackling now. Conversely, a horse who `led
throughout, tired at last` may appreciate a shorter race.
Going
The going is not always `good`, so take it into account if your choice runs his best
on hard or soft ground. Racing on the right going can make a huge difference to
where he finishes.
Weight
Most races are handicaps, in which horses are weighted on their ability in recent
races. The object is to try and beat the handicapper by spotting a horse that has
been let in lightly - carrying less weight than you were expecting.
Equipment
A seeming no-hoper can be transformed by fitting him with blinkers. These are
especially good for horses that shy away from the noise of the crowd, hesitate when
a rival runner looms up beside them or who have a tendency not to keep to a straight
line. Blinkers vary from a minor eye shield to a full-blown hood.
Pacemakers
Some horses are so full of running they like to hare off in front, which frequently
means they use up all their energy and are passed in the closing stages. In this
case, a trainer may run a pacemaker. This is another horse from the same stable
whose job is to set a very fast pace. Hopefully, he will exhaust most of the other
runners, allowing his superior stable companion to sweep through to take the spoils.
The Horse
If possible, it really helps to learn how to assess a horse`s fitness. Hours spent
poring over the form is wasted if a runner is not in tip-top condition. So go to the
races, or watch Saturday`s extensive television coverage and check whether your
fancied horse is walking well, whether he is nervous or sweating up and how he moves
across the ground on his gallop to the start.
With all these horse racing tips to
work with, you should soon find yourself in the money. All you have to do is place
your bet!

Golf Guide
|
The key reason that golf is such a challenging, frustrating but ultimately enjoyable
game is that the range of skills needed to play successfully are completely
unnatural. Sports that involve running, kicking or throwing make use of movements we
carry out on a daily basis, but striking a small ball with a club is something only
a few people have any experience of before starting out in the game.
Leading British golf coach, John Jacobs, whose students have included some of the
top players in the world, recommends the use of the GASPS system when learning to
play as a way of helping newcomers to remember all the important elements that go
into making up a great shot.
Each letter of GASPS stands for a different element and, overall, the system teaches
the importance of Grip and Aim, why having the correct Stance and good Posture is
crucial and finally the best way to carry out the actual Swing. These fundamentals
are the foundation of good golfing play and beginners who master them progress far
more quickly with the game.
Students learning classical instruments such as the violin or the trumpet are often
discouraged from attempting to teach themselves on the basis that they could acquire
bad habits that will not only affect their ability to play but could also cause
physical discomfort or even injury. The same is true of golf.
Although it is more than possible to read a few books, watch a few videos and then
try things out for yourself, it is far better to take lessons and receive
professional tuition. The fact that the majority of professional players - even the
likes of Luke Donald and Tiger Woods still have lessons in order to refine their
technique speaks volumes about how valuable such guidance can be.
The first element of the GASPS system is grip. Learning how to hold a club correctly
is something many beginners take for granted but unless you hands are in the correct
position, every aspect of your swing will suffer.
Aiming the clubface at the right part of the ball and aligning your body in the
direction you want it to travel also take time and practice to get right. Stance and
posture are closely related and even small mistakes in either can adversely affect
the direction of the ball.
All the previous elements combine to create the perfect swing which, itself, is
combined of four separate segments: backswing, downswing, impact and follow through.
As is the case with many sports, regular practice is the key to being able to put
everything together.
Many newcomers to golf worry about the cost of playing on a regular basis but one
solution is to always play with a friend or even-numbered group. This not only makes
the game more enjoyable but means you can take advantage of the many 2 fore one deals that effectively cut your green
fees in half.

Beginners Guide to Horse Racing
|
Horse racing has such a long history that there is much debate as to when it
actually began. One of the most widely accepted claims suggests that the first
organised races took place in the ancient Greek Olympics of the mid 7th century but
it is likely that the concept of racing horses against each other has taken place
for many thousands of years.
The sport continued to grow throughout the years but it enjoyed its largest period
of growth in the early part of the 18th century. This was the point where the three
founding sires of horse racing, the Darley Arabian, the Godolphin Arabian and the
Byerly Turk began to produce thoroughbred foals. All horses racing today can, in
fact, be traced directly back to these three ancestors.
Around this time, some of the world`s most famous horse races were established
including the Epsom Derby and the Aintree Grand National: Events that have continued
through time to establish themselves as some of the longest, continuous sporting
events in the world.
Today there are two very distinct types of horse racing: National Hunt and Flat. In
flat racing, there are no fences to be negotiated and therefore the tests involved
are of speed or endurance. Within flat racing there are two very different types of
events and these are Handicaps, where each horse is assigned weight based on their
ability and conditions races which allow all runners to compete without any such
restrictions.
With regards to National Hunt racing, the clear difference is that fences are
involved but there are also two very different seasons assigned to each discipline
during the calendar year.
Traditionally, horse racing has also attracted a lot of media coverage and much of
this is down to the amount of money that is gambled on these races each year. Until
recently, horse racing was the most popular sport from a betting point of view and
although it has recently been overtaken by football in this respect, it still
attracts vast interest.
Betting in moderation can enhance your enjoyment of horse racing but there`s no
better way to experience this than to attend a meeting yourself. There are many
historic courses across the UK that hold regular events and the atmosphere at each
is really memorable.
Some of the best meetings and races include The Cheltenham Festival, the Derby and
the Grand National as well as the Ebor meeting at York.
For anyone looking to get into horse racing it can be a lucrative and exciting
career but it requires more discipline and dedication than most sports. The best
place to start is by taking basic riding lessons so equip yourself with riding boots and other
essentials and see whether you can enjoy the sport as a competitor or a spectator.
